Letting go...

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." (Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV)

I find these verses particularly encouraging as I stand poised on the brink of 2011.  As stated in a previous post, 2010 was a difficult year for my family, and to be honest, I'm glad it's finally over.  2010 wasn't all bad, but there are some angry words and poor choices that I would like to forget.  In Isaiah 43:18, the Lord urges me to do just that, to "FORGET the former things" and not to dwell on the past.  In verse 19, He says "...I am doing a new thing...I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."  There were times in 2010 when my life felt like a barren wasteland, but in the midst of it all, God was there, and He was faithful, and He has promised to be faithful again.  So before I take one step into 2011, I am resolving to let go of the baggage of 2010 and fix my eyes on the ONE who has new things in store!

  1. For me 2010 brought me closer to a church body I have grown to love (and my kids love), and friends in that church that I cherish. You ALL (but especially you and Annette), helped me walk through some difficult decisions in my life regarding school and the kids. I am so grateful to have had people to help me during that time! Not to mention the lovely little homeschool CO-OP for the kids. I can't wait to take them all kayaking!

I know that those first weeks of return to the working world must have seemed a shock to you, but I remember having my friend Kelley out here everyday. Giggling at her mask and white suit, and enjoying feeding her as healthy and interesting fare as I could muster at the time! ;-) I don't think either Lee or I could have found even the smallest joy in that task without you there. ;-)

I know on your end it has INDEED been a trying year, but in the midst of it all you let your kindness extend to me and I greatly appreciate it! Looking forward to your early birthday celebration. Get started on those books!
